Empowering Scholars: FSH UIN Jakarta Drives Publication Quality via Coaching Clinic
FSH News, FSH Meeting Room - The Faculty of Sharia and Law of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta organized the First Coaching Clinic Series as part of the 10th International Conference on Law and Justice (ICLJ) program on April 16, 2026, at the Faculty’s Second Floor Meeting Room. The event aimed to enhance lecturers’ capacity to produce high-quality scholarly publications with international competitiveness.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, M.A., M.D.C., Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, emphasized that scholarly publication constitutes an essential component of lecturers’ academic responsibilities. He noted that despite the numerous administrative duties faced by academics, productivity in writing and publishing scientific work should remain a priority.
“Scholarly publications not only reflect individual academic capacity but also contribute to the reputation and development of the institution,” he stated.
During the main session, Dr. Zezen Zaenal Mutaqin, S.J.D., delivered a presentation entitled Writing Strong Academic Articles. He explained that high-quality scholarly articles must be developed through a systematic structure, beginning with the formulation of research problems and questions, followed by a literature review, research methodology, analysis, and conclusions supported by adequate references.
According to Dr. Zezen, one of the most critical aspects of academic writing is the ability to identify a research gap, which serves as the foundation for formulating research problems and questions. He further emphasized that academic arguments should be supported by empirical data, strong theoretical foundations, and critical as well as comprehensive analysis.
Dr. Zezen also highlighted the importance of expanding literature sources through the utilization of a wide range of scholarly references, including internationally reputable journals. He encouraged researchers to adopt interdisciplinary approaches and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration in order to produce relevant and high-quality research.
The event was conducted in an interactive format, featuring discussion and question-and-answer sessions that addressed various aspects of research methodology, strategies for identifying research gaps, and techniques for strengthening academic arguments in scholarly articles.
Through this program, the Faculty of Sharia and Law of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hopes that its lecturers will be better prepared to produce outstanding scholarly publications and actively contribute to international academic forums, including the 10th International Conference on Law and Justice, which is scheduled to be held in June 2026.
