FSH UIN Jakarta Launches Hukumonline Corner and Hosts Studium General on the Future of the Legal Profession

FSH News, 2nd Floor Theater Room — The Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, officially launched the Hukumonline Corner, held a Hukumonline service socialization session, and organized a Studium General titled “The Future of the Legal Profession in an Era of Disruption” on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The event featured Robert Sidauruk, Chief Content Officer of Hukumonline, as the keynote speaker.

The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WIB, was attended by Dean of FSH Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC., Vice Dean for General Administration Dr. Afwan Faizin, M.A., faculty members, and student representatives from various study programs within FSH.

As part of the event, FSH officially inaugurated the Hukumonline Corner, which is planned to be located in the FSH Library as a digital legal information and reference center for students and faculty members. The inauguration was symbolically marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, accompanied by representatives from Hukumonline.

The Hukumonline Corner is expected to support digital-based legal learning and research while facilitating academic access to various legal resources, including legislation, legal journals, court decisions, and up-to-date legal analyses.

In his remarks, Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum emphasized the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in the digital era. He highlighted Hukumonline as an example of how the integration of law, technology, and business can generate innovative solutions within the legal sector.

According to Prof. Maksum, technological developments have transformed the way people access legal services and academic information. Digital platforms such as Hukumonline can help students and lecturers conduct legal research, trace regulations, and prepare academic works more efficiently and systematically.

He also encouraged students to make wise use of technological developments, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), in their academic activities. AI, he stressed, should serve as a supporting tool to strengthen students’ research and analytical frameworks rather than replace their critical thinking processes in producing scholarly work.

Furthermore, the Dean encouraged students to develop new innovations through collaboration with other fields, particularly information technology. He noted that law students have significant opportunities to create digital legal services capable of responding to the needs of society in the modern era.

Meanwhile, Robert Sidauruk explained that the legal sector is undergoing significant transformation driven by technological advances and increasingly complex regulations. He emphasized that today’s law students need strong research skills, digital competencies, and the ability to adapt to rapid developments in the legal landscape.

Robert also introduced Hukumonline’s University Solution program, which is designed to support the development of academic and legal research ecosystems in higher education institutions. Through the Hukumonline Corner, students and lecturers can access a range of digital services, including legislation databases, court decision analyses, legal journals, and AI-lex, an AI-powered legal technology developed specifically for Indonesian law.

AI-lex is designed to assist users with conversational legal searches, regulatory analysis, and systematic mapping of legal issues. Hukumonline also provides real-time regulatory monitoring services, which can support legal research and the preparation of academic publications.

As part of the collaboration between the two institutions, the event also featured a plaque exchange between FSH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and Hukumonline. The exchange symbolized cooperation between the academic community and the digital legal industry in advancing legal education that is responsive to technological developments and changing professional demands.

On the occasion, Robert Sidauruk expressed his appreciation for FSH UIN Jakarta, recognizing its strong academic reputation and its contribution to producing competent graduates for the legal profession. He expressed hope that the partnership between Hukumonline and FSH UIN Jakarta would continue to grow and provide sustainable benefits for the advancement of legal education in Indonesia.

The event proceeded smoothly and interactively, with enthusiastic participation from students. The discussion and question-and-answer session featured active exchanges on the future of the legal profession, the use of digital technology, and the challenges facing the legal sector in an era of disruption.

To conclude the event, the committee presented souvenirs to participants who actively contributed questions during the discussion session. The gesture served as an appreciation for students’ active participation in the academic event and scholarly discussion.

Through this initiative, FSH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is expected to further strengthen its research culture, enhance technology-based legal education, and equip students with the knowledge and competencies needed to navigate the evolving legal profession.
