The delegation from FSH IAIN Madura carried out the study visit as part of preparations for their institution’s transformation into UIN. Through this visit, FSH IAIN Madura sought to gain an overview of various aspects that need to be prepared, ranging from faculty governance development, drafting new vision and mission statements, to strengthening academic culture that supports university status.
In his remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC., explained that the transformation into UIN is not merely a change in nomenclature, but a strategic step to enhance the quality of higher education through strengthened governance, scientific development, and increased competitiveness at both national and international levels.
He also outlined that the vision and mission of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta emphasize two main aspects: integration of knowledge and global recognition and reputation. These aspects are then translated at the faculty level by strengthening the development of law and sharia fields to respond to the evolving challenges of society.
On this occasion, Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum also elaborated on the moratorium policy for the Law Study Program, which has become a focus in academic program development. This policy encourages the faculty to continue innovating in strengthening academic quality, research, and community service, ensuring that scientific development proceeds optimally in line with higher education policy directions.
The discussion was interactive, covering FSH UIN Jakarta’s experiences in managing the faculty after becoming part of a university, including strategies for drafting academic policies, improving education quality, strengthening research, and developing cooperation with institutions both domestically and internationally.
Beyond sharing experiences, the visit also opened opportunities for closer cooperation between FSH IAIN Madura and FSH UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Both parties committed to strengthening collaboration in education, research, community service, and other academic programs that can support the advancement of Islamic higher education in Indonesia.
Through this comparative study activity, it is hoped that stronger synergy will be established between the two institutions in supporting institutional transformation processes and developing legal and sharia education that is adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive.
