Sharia Deans Forum in Indonesia 2025 Officially Opened at UIN Jakarta, Signed Cooperation with Badilag Supreme Court
FSH NEWS, Diorama UIN Jakarta - The activities of the Sharia Deans Forum throughout Indonesia were officially opened on the evening of 17 September 2025 at Diorama UIN Jakarta. The three-day event was attended by a number of important figures in the field of education and religious justice, including Drs. H. Muchlis, S.H., M.H. as Chairman of the Supreme Court Religious Justice Agency (Badilag MA), Prof. Dr. Sudirman Hasan, M.A., CHARM. as Chairperson of the Forum of Sharia Faculty Deans throughout Indonesia, as well as UIN Jakarta leaders such as Rector Prof. Dr. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D. and Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., as well as Dean of FSH UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, S.H., M.A., MDC. and staff.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, Dean of FSH UIN Jakarta, expressed his high appreciation for the presence of faculty leaders, study programme heads, and all participants from various campuses. "Thank you to the Rector, the Chairperson of the Deans Forum, and Pak Vice Rector I who have given full support for the implementation of this activity. Tonight will also be an important moment for the signing of the PKS between Badilag and the Sharia Deans Forum, especially for those who have not had time to sign before," said Prof Maksum.
In his speech, Prof. Dr Asep Saepudin Jahar emphasised that UIN Jakarta is a common home for the development of sharia science in Indonesia. He invited all participants to maintain the reputation and quality of the Faculty of Sharia alumni to continue to exist and contribute positively in the academic and practical world, especially in the religious justice environment.
The Chairperson of the Sharia Deans Forum, Prof. Dr Sudirman Hasan, M.A., expressed his appreciation for the presence of 105 participants from 43 PTKIN campuses throughout Indonesia. He also conveyed the main purpose of this forum to solve various challenges and problems of the future of alumni and increase synergy between sharia faculties in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Drs. H. Muchlis, S.H., M.H. from Badilag MA emphasised the importance of strategic cooperation established through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Sharia Deans Forum. This agreement is not just a ceremony, but a real commitment to strengthen the Tri Dharma of Higher Education which is in line with the priority programme of religious courts in 2025.
Furthermore, Drs. H. Muchlis, S.H., M.H. conveyed the big challenge in fulfilling the quota of prospective judge formations in the religious court environment which is not yet optimal. He hoped that the Faculty of Sharia can prepare students who excel not only academically but also mentally and knowledgeably so that they are ready to face the selection to become judges.
The opening ceremony was closed with the signing of a collaboration between the Badilag Supreme Court and the Sharia Deans Forum throughout Indonesia as a symbol of strategic collaboration for the advancement of education and religious justice in the country.[NA]
