Strengthening Ties and Critical Thinking, HTN UIN Ponorogo Holds Comparative Study Visit to UIN Jakarta

FSH News, Theater 2nd Floor — The Constitutional Law Study Program (HTN) of the Faculty of Sharia, UIN Ponorogo, conducted a comparative study visit to the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The visit, which brought around 40 students along with program leaders, aimed to strengthen ties of friendship while drawing inspiration for academic and student development.

In her remarks, Head of the HTN Study Program at UIN Ponorogo, Dr. Martha Eri Safira, M.H., expressed appreciation for the warm welcome from UIN Jakarta. She noted that the achievements of HTN UIN Jakarta students have become a source of motivation for regional campuses to continue advancing.

"We have heard much about the achievements of HTN UIN Jakarta students, not only in academic and non-academic fields, but also their courage in filing judicial review petitions to the Constitutional Court," said Dr. Martha.

She emphasized the importance of training students to develop critical thinking skills that are not only expressed through street demonstrations but also translated into legal documents and actions grounded in legitimacy. Beyond student affairs, the visit also served as a forum for discussion among program managers on national accreditation governance through the SAPTO system and strategies for achieving international accreditation.

Welcoming the delegation from East Java, Vice Dean II for General Administration of FSH UIN Jakarta, Dr. Afwan Faizin, M.A., conveyed apologies on behalf of Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, who was unable to attend. He warmly welcomed the initiative of knowledge and experience exchange among Indonesia’s Islamic higher education institutions (PTKIN).

Quoting values of learning, Dr. Afwan encouraged all students to use the momentum of this comparative study as a means of siirū fil ardli—to seek wisdom and positive experiences from other places to bring back to their home region.

He also explained the academic climate at FSH UIN Jakarta, supported by the presence of Non-Structural Student Organizations (LSO). These student-initiated organizations have successfully produced outstanding talents in national legal debates and moot court competitions.

"Experiences like these are what we can share together. Hopefully, this exchange of ideas will bring real benefits for the advancement of HTN Study Programs, both at UIN Jakarta and UIN Ponorogo," Dr. Afwan concluded.

The event continued with interactive discussions between students and program managers, before closing with a collective prayer for blessings on the entire series of comparative study activities.
