Training Motivation and Character Development: Shaping Humanist and Professional FSH Students
FSH News, Student Center Field — After the Istirahat, Sholat, dan Makan (ISHOMA – Rest, Prayer, and Meal) break, the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta resumed the 2026 Pengenalan Budaya Akademik dan Kemahasiswaan (PBAK – Introduction to Academic and Student Culture) program at 13:00 WIB on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The session was re-opened by the semi-formal MC with lively ice-breaking activities to re-energize new students before entering the agenda of Training Motivation and Character Development. The session was moderated by Daniel Adrian Bredley and featured two speakers who shared insights on humanity, leadership, character building, and student professionalism.
The first speaker, Nur Ilhamillaili Fisabilillah Miswin, M.H., delivered a presentation titled “Integration of Human Values and Ethical Leadership in Law Enforcement.” He emphasized that law is not only about rules, norms, and articles but must always be oriented toward human values. According to him, future law graduates must develop social sensitivity and empathy in addressing societal issues.
Students were encouraged to build leadership character based on honesty, justice, responsibility, and care for others. Thus, FSH graduates are expected not only to master legal analysis but also to adopt a humanist approach in contributing to society.
The second speaker, Syukri Rahmatullah, Editor-in-Chief of Berita Satu, presented on “Building Professional Networks and Personal Character through LinkedIn.” He provided practical insights on the importance of developing a digital footprint and professional image early in university life. Students were introduced to personal branding as part of character development and preparation for the professional world.
He explained how LinkedIn can be used to build professional networks, expand connections, and access career development opportunities. Students were encouraged to showcase their competencies, experiences, and potential professionally, while also learning to connect with professionals and practitioners across fields to prepare for an increasingly competitive job market.
The session was highly interactive, with new students actively engaging in dialogue and Q&A with the speakers. Among those who asked questions were Abdurahman from the Constitutional Law program and Rasyafa from the Family Law program. Their participation reflected the enthusiasm of students in developing courage, critical thinking, and communication skills early in their academic journey.
The session concluded with the presentation of certificates to the speakers as a token of appreciation for their contributions. The moderator then handed the program back to the semi-formal MC, who led another ice-breaking activity before moving on to the next agenda.
Through this Training Motivation and Character Development session, new FSH students are expected to build character not only focused on academic achievement but also grounded in integrity, ethical leadership, human values, and readiness to face future professional challenges.
